CLAT – The Common Law Admission (CLAT) is a national level entrance exam for admissions to undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) Law Programs offered by 22 National Law Universities in India. CLAT is organized by the Consortium of National Law Universities, comprising representative universities. Several affiliates’ universities and organizations also use the CLAT exam for admissions and recruitment respectively.

CLAT Eligibility Criteria

Undergraduate (UG) Course

  • There is no upper age limit for candidates appearing for UG Program through the CLAT.
  • Candidates must secure the following minimum percentage of marks in their qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2 or an equivalent examination).
  • Forty Five Percent (45%) Marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to General / OBC / PwD / NRI / PIO / OCI / Categories.
  • Forty Percent (40%) Marks or equivalent in case of candidates belonging to SC / ST Candidates.

The National Law Universities (NLUs) in India (except for the NLU Delhi) and other top law colleges offer admissions to five-year integrated LLB courses, as well as LLM courses based on CLAT scores. The courses offered are:

PUNJAB UNIVERSITY (PU) LLB ENTRANCE EXAM

The PU LLB entrance exam is conducted by Panjab University Chandigarh for admissions to Five-year BA LLB and B.Com LLB and three-year LLB courses at Department of Law Chandigarh and its constituent colleges in Punjab. The exam is held in offline mode in the Month of May/June.

PU LLB EXAM PATTERN

The PU LLB syllabus has three sections – Current Affairs and GK, Legal Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability and English. The PU LLB entrance exam will include a total of 100 objective-type questions and duration of exam is 90 minutes. There are 480 LLB seats in PU law department.

MARKING SCHEME IN PU LLB ENTRANCE EXAM

+1 mark will be awarded for a correct answer and there is negative marking in PU LLB Entrance exam of .25 marks.
